Reasons to be cheerful!

Given all the troubling financial news in Europe at the moment, it would be easy to feel jaded by the current situation. But let’s not forget – our industry is one of few that is bucking the trend; we’re still forging ahead, breaking new markets and doing great business.

Most of this is due to the continued rise and rise of offshore, and it’s a sector that we’re focussing on in our latest issue of PES Wind, out now. In truth, offshore has driven the industry for the past few years, and it’s no surprise that the internationally-renowned wind energy event EWEA OFFSHORE 2011 (29 November – 1 December) is set to be the biggest and most vibrant ever. And of course, we’re going to be there.

With 8,000m2 of exhibition space, over 460 exhibitors, more than 7,500 participants, an insightful three-day conference programme and a host of networking events, it promises to be a stimulating and fruitful event – and we can’t wait to get over to Amsterdam and get involved. If you happen to run into us, please do take a moment to say hello, and of course, pick up your copy of our latest issue from the media point.

You’ll find that our latest PES Wind is packed with all the latest news and incisive analysis that you’ve come to expect, as well as a host of illuminating features. For example, did you know that the coastlines of Europe are strewn with thousands of tonnes of unexploded ordnance from WWII and that it is presenting our industry with a major challenge? Or did you realise that the tiny Isle of Man is one of Europe’s fastest-growing wind markets? Discover more in our latest issue.

Plus, we once again welcome a host of experts to our exclusive roundtable, including Lars Bondo Krogsgaard of Nordex, Frost & Sullivan’s Georgina Benedetti and Marc Schmitz, Senior Vice President of Radobank. We also investigate the imminent roll-out of smart meters throughout Europe and talk to a wealth of interviewees from across the sector.

All in all, it’s a bumper issue that’s filled with positive business stories and brimming with confidence for the future. 2012 is all to play for, and we at PES will be reporting from the front line, as always. In the meantime, look out for your latest issue, and we’ll hopefully see you at EWEA OFFSHORE 2011.
