GDG recently established a USA presence to support the rapidly evolving offshore wind market in the United States

Providence, USA, January 5, 2022 – Offshore consultancy, GDG, is excited to announce it is officially open for business in the United States! As we enter into a New Year, the consultancy team at GDG is making resolutions for how we support the USA offshore wind market with specialist geo-solutions. We are approaching 2022 with a strong platform for USA delivery, having recently incorporated GDG Inc. and established an office presence in Providence, Rhode Island. Our USA activities will be led by Dr. Jan Mangal who has taken on the role of Country Manager and will be leading our efforts on the ground in the United States. Jan joins GDG with 20 years experience in the energy sector. With a PhD in offshore geotechnics and foundation behaviour, and a track record in delivering major energy projects around the world, Jan has the necessary skillsets to deliver a high-end range of consultancy services for offshore wind projects across the United States. Under Jan’s leadership, GDG Inc. will be building a local team of engineers, scientists and project mangers in the US and will be engaging with the wider offshore wind industry over the coming year.

Commenting on recent developments, Managing Director Dr. Paul Doherty stated that, “We are excited Jan decided to join our team. He brings decades of offshore and energy sector experience and is ideally placed to spearhead our market entry and grow our USA team”.

Over the past decade GDG has grown to become a leading service company to the offshore wind sector and has expanded worldwide from its initial base in Europe. The establishment of GDG Inc. cements the global reach of our service offering and provides an opportunity to further develop relationships with our USA clients with enhanced local support. Our services range from ground modelling, survey management, engineering design of foundations and cable installation, and front-end development support. Fundamentally, GDG supports offshore wind development with geo-solutions, bringing added technical value and reducing the overall risk profile.

Dr. Mangal stated “The US offshore wind market is poised for tremendous growth. It requires the rapid development of a complex supply chain, not only in equipment but also in specialist services like those provided by GDG. I look forward to leveraging GDG’s worldwide experience, as well as my experience on billion-dollar energy projects, in support of the growth of clean energy in the US.”

Dr. Mangal has over 20 years of experience in the marine and energy industries, working for the second largest US energy company, an international development bank, for governments, marine cable installers and innovative start-ups. Dr. Mangal has a keen interest in capital project governance and energy equity. He also collaborated with NGOsadvocating for citizen’s rights with respect to fossil fuel exploitation.
