Aurecon strengthens renewables capabilities in Southeast Asia with senior hires

Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City – International design, engineering and advisory company Aurecon has appointed Lorenzo Claveri as Wind and Renewables Leader and Chanon Mahisanan as Senior Engineer, Power Generation to bolster its renewables capabilities in Southeast Asia.

These two appointments are part of Aurecon’s continued investment and expansion across Asia, signifying the company’s commitment to support our clients in navigating the transition to a low carbon energy economy.

According to the Global Wind Energy Council, the global wind energy market is expected to grow by 6.6 per cent per year on average, with the Asia Pacific region increasingly playing a bigger role to drive global growth. In Asia, China has been the world’s largest wind market by installed capacity since 2010, while Vietnam is leading Southeast Asia’s energy transition, having installed more than 20GW of renewable energy from 2019 to 2021. As net zero commitments gather momentum globally coupled with renewed urgency for energy security, the market outlook for the renewable energy industry, especially in Asia, remains bright.

Gabe Carter, Managing Director for Thailand and Vietnam said, “I am delighted to welcome Lorenzo and Chanon. Their drive, knowledge and understanding of renewables will enrich the depth of expertise already within our team. This positions Aurecon well to lead and seize the opportunities in this dynamic region. Together, we can create greater value for our clients by helping them to negotiate evolving risks and by providing strategic solutions on their journey towards realising a sustainable and liveable future.”

Lorenzo will be based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, while Chanon will be based in Bangkok, Thailand.

Lorenzo Claveri – Wind and Renewables Leader

Lorenzo has almost 20 years of international experience in the renewable energy industry, especially in the areas of energy yield assessment  and  due diligence for onshore and offshore wind projects. He has worked in relevant research and consultancy fields including stints with wind turbine manufacturers and developers.

Lorenzo also brings with him a unique expertise in developing and using mesoscale wind data for onshore and offshore wind applications, which enables Aurecon to differentiate itself in a highly competitive market. He will be responsible for supporting the growth of the firm’s renewable energy business in Southeast Asia, particularly in wind and solar power; driving and managing technical due diligence and projects in the region; as well as deepening in-house capabilities in project management and technical advisory services.

“I am thrilled to be joining such an innovative company as Aurecon at an exciting time when Southeast Asia is becoming a clean energy heavyweight. Wind and solar energy will play an increasingly important role in enabling the region to diversify its energy footprint. I look forward to bringing Aurecon’s future-focused approach and renewable energy expertise to life for the betterment of our clients and the community,” Lorenzo said.

Chanon Mahisanan – Senior Engineer, Power Generation

Chanon has worked in the renewable energy industry for over seven years, providing a range of wind analysis services, which cover technical due diligence and feasibility studies for onshore and offshore wind projects. To date, Chanon’s project portfolio consists of delivering more than 18GW of renewable energy, of which 13GW are from offshore wind projects.

In his new role, Chanon will support the growth of Aurecon’s renewable energy business in Southeast Asia. He will collaborate with technical teams across the Aurecon network to deliver local and regional projects; undertake technical reviews, wind modelling and energy yield assessments, as well as enhance Aurecon’s technical processes.

Chanon shared, “The breadth and depth of expertise in renewable energy at Aurecon is huge, spanning wind, solar, hydrogen, battery storage and more. I am excited to work with my diverse and talented colleagues across the wider Aurecon network to co-create sustainable and resilient energy solutions for a cleaner and greener world.”
