Reaching new heights, setting new standards

The PV industry has watched with interest as, in the last 12 months, Trina Solar finally became the number one crystalline module manufacturer globally, shipping over 3.6 GW to disparate markets. We asked Jing Tian, Trina Solar’s Head of Global Marketing, about the company’s sustained success and its plans for an even brighter future.

PES: Welcome back to the magazine. Would you like to bring us up to speed with recent developments?
Jing Tian:
Thank you, we are glad to be back! 2014 was a year of significant accomplishments for Trina Solar. We expanded our downstream business developments in 2014, more than quadrupling capacity over the previous year. We introduced the Trinasmart module to the North American market, combining our high performance panels with the optimising and monitoring technology to deliver a comprehensive solution to maximise roof space and overall energy production for residential and commercial applications.
Also in 2014, we broke seven technology world records for solar cell efficiency, earned a BlueSky Award for our high efficiency crystalline silicon solar cells, and we earned our third consecutive number one ranking on the Silicon Valley Toxics Coalition’s Solar Scorecard for social and environmental responsibility. As we know that solar consumers are very conscious not only of quality and performance, but also of social and environmental impacts, we take pride in being the industry leader in that regard. And, we achieved all of this and still managed to maintain our profit margins.
These accomplishments and recognitions established Trina Solar as the global leader in the solar manufacturing sector going into 2015. And above all, we became the number one crystalline PV module manufacturer globally, shipping over 3.6 GW to various markets.
