5.2 Megawatt San Diego Unified School District solar energy project

Leading solar developer AMSOLAR Corporation (“AMSOLAR”) is pleased to announce the addition of GCL Solar Energy, Inc. (“GCL Solar” or “GCL”) to the team that will be developing and installing its 5.2 Megawatt (MW) project for the San Diego Unified School District.

When completed, the project will bring solar power to 20 sites in the District, using both rooftops and parking lots, creating one of the largest distributed solar energy plants in the United States.

GCL Solar Energy, Inc. based in San Francisco, CA, will provide EPC expertise and backing for the project as part of its partnership with AMSOLAR to jointly develop up to approximately $100 million in projects at schools across the United States. GCL Solar Energy is one of the largest supporters of solar projects in California and is a division of GCL-Poly Energy Holdings, Ltd. (HK: 3800), a global leader in the production of polysilicon and wafers.

“We are proud to bring a project of this size, scope and importance to our partnership with GCL Solar,” said Joshua Weinstein, Managing Partner of AMSOLAR. “Given our focus on enabling schools to embrace solar throughout the country, we are especially pleased to be bringing 23,000 solar panels to the San Diego Unified School District.”

GCL Solar Chairman Hunter Jiang noted, “The San Diego Unified Schools project demonstrates the strength of our commitment to investing in projects that bring solar to the next generation. We are pleased to be working with our partners at AMSOLAR on this exciting development.”

In addition to installing 23,000 solar panels on 20 SDUSD sites throughout San Diego, AMSOLAR GIVING, AMSOLAR’s corporate giving and community action arm, will be working closely with the District to promote renewable energy awareness, education and exploration. AMSOLAR GIVING projects at SDUSD will include additional solar demonstration systems for students, wind demonstration systems, ongoing workshops for the District’s science teachers, renewable energy grants available for faculty and students, among other program
