wpd sells French wind farm portfolio with a total capacity of 131 MW

wpd europe GmbH, a subsidiary of wpd AG, is selling eight French onshore wind energy projects to the listed company INNERGEX Renewable Energy Inc. from Canada. Seven wind farms with a total installed power of 87 MW are already in operation, one further project is under construction.

All eight wind farms with a total output of 131 MW are located in the north of France. The sizes of the individual projects range from four to 22 turbines, among them 52 Enercon and ten Nordex turbines.

The contracts for the transaction which have now been signed provide for wpd windmanager GmbH & Co. KG to remain responsible for the commercial management and technical operation of the wind farms.

“France is a very important market for wpd”, explains Helge Rau, Head of M&A at wpd AG. With five branch offices and more than 60 employees, wpd is driving the expansion of wind energy in France. 260 MW have already been installed successfully onshore, five projects are under construction and a further 700 MW are currently in the pipeline. In the offshore wind sector, wpd together with partners was successful with its projects, Courseulles (450 MW) and Fécamp (498 MW), as part of the first round of tenders awarded by the French Government – construction of both projects is planned for 2018/19.
