wpd and Boreas to Conclude a Contract on 32 Vestas Wind Turbine Generators

In cooperation with its partner, Boreas, the wind power planner and operator wpd has concluded a bulk order on 32 wind turbine generators with Vestas. The contract was signed within the framework of the Hannover Messe International last week on the backdrop of a major project in Thuringia, for which the companies acquired a total for 32 Vestas V90-turbines of the 2-megawatt-class with a hub height of 125 meters. “We enjoyed the constructive discussions with Vestas at the Hannover fair and we’re happy about the signed contract and as a perspective, we would like to tackle further projects together,” declares Lars Mueller, in charge of turbine acquisition.

wpd
wpd is operator and developer of installations for the generation of renewable energies with a clear focus on wind power, operating in 20 countries worldwide. In total, the company has carried out projects with around 1,400 turbines and an output of 2,1 GW. Currently wpd is planning projects with 7,000 MW in total. More over, the group is one of Europe’s leading offshore developer with a pipeline of 10,000 MW. One of the first commercial offshore wind plants Baltic I, attended by wpd, has been built last year. wpd develops offshore projects in Germany, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, France and Italy.

The comprehensive range of service includes planning, financing, turn-key construction and operation of wind power and photovoltaic plants, their technical and commercial operation as well as marketing thereof.
With an installed capacity of just about 500 MW, power plants planned by BOREAS generate a total of 1 billion kilowatt hours of electritcity per year – enough for the private power supply of more than one million people in Germany.

Vestas
In the worldwide battle against climate change, Vestas’ wind turbines generate clean energy day by day. The energy produced by Vestas’ more than 41,000 wind turbine generators reduces the worldwide carbon emissions by more than 40 million tons of CO2 per year. At the same time, energy security and independence is increased. Vestas is the leading supplier of wind technology and refers to over 30 years of technological innovation and experience in the development, manufacturing, installation and maintenance of the best wind turbine generators worldwide. Vestas is one of the pioneers in the wind power sector and started manufacturing wind turbine generators in 1979. Since 1987, the company is exclusively concentrated on wind energy. Today, Vestas is operating in 65 countries and has a staff of more than 20,000 dedicated employees at the service and project sites, in research facilities, factories and offices.
