WEG, a global motor, drives and gearbox manufacturer, will exhibit its battery energy storage system (BESS) at EnergyWeek 2026, an annual international event for renewable energy, smart energy systems, energy storage and batteries. Held from March 16 to 19 in Vaasa, Finland, the event brings together energy professionals, decision makers and researchers from across the sector. On March 18, at stand E14, attendees can explore WEG’s technologies, designed to boost energy reliability and support the transition to cleaner power.

At EnergyWeek, WEG experts will highlight a broad portfolio of integrated solutions developed to support modern, resilient and low-carbon energy systems. Its offering spans power generation, electrification, automation and digital solutions, all engineered to improve efficiency, reliability and environmental performance across industrial and renewable energy applications.

The key focus at WEG’s stand will be the WEG BESS, exhibited through a 3D model. WEG BESS is designed to strengthen grid stability while accelerating the integration of renewable energy. By storing energy from wind and solar sources and dispatching it when needed, WEG BESS mitigates intermittency, enhances energy security and improves overall system reliability.

The system supports a wide range of applications across the energy value chain. In power generation, it improves energy quality through voltage and frequency regulation while stabilising supply. In transmission and distribution networks, it reduces peak demand, balances loads and helps defer costly infrastructure investments. Additional operating modes such as black start capability, power factor regulation and energy shifting enable flexible energy trading and ensure adaptability to complex grid requirements.

Built on modular, scalable architectures, WEG’s BESS can be configured for utility-scale installations, microgrids, industrial peak shaving and backup power. The system is a sustainable, zero-emission solution that integrates seamlessly with renewable energy sources and delivers extended service life, reducing environmental impact and total cost of ownership.

Each system is engineered using high-performance components, including a bidirectional converter, battery bank, power transformer and a purpose-designed e-House, working together as a fully integrated and customisable energy storage solution tailored to the specific needs of each project. WEG can deliver its BESS as a turnkey solution, managing the full project scope from engineering and system integration to commissioning and ongoing support.

“EnergyWeek is a key meeting place for everyone shaping the Nordic energy transition. At WEG, we see battery energy storage as a critical enabler for integrating more renewable energy while maintaining grid stability and security,” said Anders Näzell, managing director of WEG Scandinavia. “Through our BESS solutions, we are helping utilities and industrial customers build flexible, resilient energy systems that are ready for the future,”

Supporting the system is WEG’s Energy Management System (WEM), which provides real-time monitoring and control to facilitate seamless integration with existing electrical networks. The solution is designed for high performance, offering fast charging and discharging capabilities, high energy density and low maintenance requirements.
