Building on its position as Europe’s leading partner for large-scale solar PV, SUNOTEC has officially launched SUNOTEC Nordic, establishing a dedicated entity to drive the expansion of solar and hybrid renewable projects across the region. The step reflects SUNOTEC’s strategic commitment to supporting Denmark and its Nordic neighbours in achieving their ambitious climate targets, while strengthening the company’s position as a fully integrated turnkey and lifecycle partner.
Denmark is widely recognised as a global frontrunner in the energy transition. The country has enshrined ambitious climate goals into law, committing to climate neutrality by 2050 and setting some of the most progressive interim targets in Europe. Strong public support for renewables, a mature energy grid, and a policy framework that actively fosters innovation have created ideal conditions for large-scale solar deployment.
This favourable landscape has already enabled SUNOTEC to deliver approximately 4 GW of solar capacity in Denmark, underscoring both the country’s potential and SUNOTEC’s established capabilities.
With the creation of SUNOTEC Nordic, the company will expand its role from a trusted construction partner to a full turnkey provider, covering every stage of project delivery, from engineering, procurement, and construction to commissioning, operations, and maintenance. This integrated model provides clients with greater efficiency, accountability, and long-term value, and positions SUNOTEC to play a central role in shaping the next generation of renewable energy infrastructure across the Nordics.
New leadership for a new chapter
To lead this entity, SUNOTEC has appointed Allan Jensen as Managing Director of SUNOTEC Nordics. With more than a decade of international experience in infrastructure and PV projects, Jensen brings both technical expertise and strategic vision.
“In the initial months, my focus is on establishing strong local partnerships, streamlining operational processes, and ensuring seamless execution of our first major projects,” said Jensen. “We aim to demonstrate our capabilities not only as a construction company, but also as a one-stop shop for turnkey power plants. Building a high-performing team and aligning our Nordic strategy with SUNOTEC’s broader vision are key priorities.”
Responding to regional energy trends
The Nordic region is undergoing a transformative shift in its energy landscape, driven by ambitious decarbonisation goals, increasing electrification, and the growing need for grid stability. Large-scale solar PV projects are gaining momentum, while Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are becoming essential for peak shaving, load balancing, and enhancing grid resilience.
“SUNOTEC is uniquely positioned to meet these needs,” added Jensen. “By integrating BESS into our large-scale solar projects, we deliver hybrid solutions that support a more decentralised and flexible energy system. This approach strengthens our role as a key partner in the Nordics’ renewable energy transition.”
Local presence, global strength
The establishment of SUNOTEC Nordic ensures that the company can respond swiftly to local market dynamics, navigate regulatory frameworks more effectively, and foster trust with regional stakeholders. It also enables SUNOTEC to contribute directly to the local economy through job creation and collaboration with Danish suppliers and partners.
“With SUNOTEC Nordic, we’re not just building infrastructure,” concluded Jensen. “We’re helping shape the future of renewable energy in Denmark and across the region.”
