Successful start-up of bifacial high-efficiency n-Pasha cell production line with RENA equipment at Mission Solar Energy LLC


• Mission Solar Energy starts-up 100 MW capacity mass production with RENA and Tempress equipment, implementing latest n-Pasha technology from ECN
• Cell Efficiencies of 19.7% average achieved after one month of ramp-up
• Further capacity expansion to 200 MW in plan

Gütenbach, September 26th, 2014 – RENA is pleased to announce the successful start-up of its new n-type bifacial cell technology equipment at key customer Mission Solar Energy LLC (formerly known as Nexolon America LLC). Mission Solar Energy LLC, a leading solar panel manufacturing company based in San Antonio, Texas, manufactures highest-in class n-type mono-crystalline cells and n-type mono-crystalline solar modules for use in solar electric systems. This week Mission Solar Energy was celebrating the opening of its new PV cell and module production facility in San Antonio. The plant produces high-efficiency bifacial n-type solar cells using the n-Pasha cell manufacturing process under license from ECN. Mission Solar Energy’s new automated 100 MW cell manufacturing platform features RENA’s most advanced inline and batch wet processing equipment and Tempress Diffusion and PECVD equipment, engineered to produce breakthrough, next generation n-type n-Pasha cells and enabling Mission Solar Energy to offer solar panels that deliver higher efficiencies, lower installation costs, and a smaller system footprint.

The installation and ramp-up of the new equipment and its dedicated processes over the last 4 months was very successful so that the target cell efficiency of 19.5 % and above was achieved earlier than planned.” said Konrad Vosteen, Head of Project Management at RENA.
