16 Enercon E70 to Go into Operation at the Ponikve Site in 2012
With the signing of the Ponikve wind farm, around 45 km to the North-West of the Croatian port city of Dubrovnik, wpd has reached another milestone. The 45-million-Euro-project will be financed in cooperation with the KfW IPEX bank as well as with funds from the KfW program for Renewable Energies. Since the successful realization of the Orlice wind farm, this is only the second joint project in Croatia – but already the third project for wpd in Croatia, along with the Trtar-Krtolin wind farm.
At the Ponikve site, wpd will erect nine Enercon E70 turbines of the 2.3 MW class with a hub height of 64m plus seven turbines of the same type with a hub height of 85 m. Grid connection approval is on hand already – and as a result, the wind farm will supply circa 60,000 households with environmentally friendly energy upon commissioning.
“Two weeks ago, works for the foundations began and the turbines will be on site in the spring of 2012; grid connection is set for the third quarter of the year. We are confident that we will be able to implement the extensive approvals in a short period of time so that we can put the turbines into operation until the end of next year,” declares wpd CEO Dr. Hartmut Brösamle. To guarantee an optimum of smooth operation for the wind farm, an EPK contract lasting 15 years has been entered into with the manufacturer, Enercon, for the maintenance of the turbines.
wpd wpd is operator and developer of installations for the generation of renewable energies with a clear focus on wind power, operating in 20 countries worldwide. In total, the company has carried out projects with around 1,400 turbines and an output of 2.1 GW. Currently wpd is planning projects with 7 GW in total. More over, the group is one of Europe’s leading offshore developers with a pipeline of 10 GW.
