Stronger By Association Ipvea And Sasia Form New Cooperation Agreement

The International PV Equipment Association (IPVEA) and the Saudi Arabia Solar Industry Association have (SASIA) formed a new mutual cooperation agreement designed to help each association promote the benefits of Photovoltaic (PV) in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) regional markets which is expected to grow to 3.5 gigawatts (GW) by 2015.

Saudi Arabia in particular according to the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (K.A.CARE), is planning to add an additional 41 GW of solar power by 2032, with 16 GW to be generated by Photovoltaics and 25 GW by solar thermal power plants.

“This cooperation agreement is an important step for IPVEA in its collaboration with National associations,” stated Bryan Ekus, Managing Director, IPVEA. “We are looking forward in working together with SASIA with the aim of achieving the regions targets and the opportunities that this brings for the international solar industry.”

The cooperation agreement provides for regular consultation between the two organizations on issues relating to market intelligence for localized PV manufacturing and allows for attendance at each other’s general meetings. “This cooperation agreement will certainly reinforce the commitment and contribution towards sustainable growth in Saudi Arabia – IPVEA is an excellent partner to share knowledge and experience from the PV manufacturing industry perspective,” affirmed Browning Rockwell, Executive Director, SASIA.

Background SASIA
The Saudi Arabia Solar Industry Association (SASIA) is a non-profit, non-governmental association, which aims to promote solar power in the Saudi Arabia and across the Middle East.

Members of the Saudi Arabia Solar Industry Association are drawn from all sectors of the solar industry, including Photovoltaics (PV), concentrating solar power (CSP) and solar thermal. Membership is also offered to suppliers to the solar industry such as glass, steel, and engineering companies.

Background IPVEA
The International Photovoltaic Equipment Association (IPVEA) is a non-profit organization of manufacturers and suppliers of photovoltaic (PV) fabrication equipment and related raw materials used in PV ingot, wafer, cell (crystalline and thin-film), and panel manufacturing.
