Onyx Solar, a global leader in photovoltaic glass, hosted the Spanish Minister of Industry and Tourism and the City Mayor at its headquarters.

ÁVILA, Spain (Nov. 6, 2025) – Spain’s Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, visited the Onyx Solar manufacturing facility on November 5, joined by city Mayor Jesús Manuel Sánchez Cabrera. The visit highlighted the region's advanced industrial and technological capabilities, recognizing Onyx Solar's role as a global benchmark in innovation and sustainability.

During the tour, the delegation observed the detailed manufacturing process for building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) glass. This advanced construction material allows buildings to generate their own clean energy. Teodosio del Caño, Onyx Solar's Technical Director and Partner, showcased the company's latest international developments and its significant global presence.

A key highlight was an innovative refurbishment project for the Nuevos Ministerios complex in Madrid, developed in partnership with construction firm Eiffage España. Onyx Solar has manufactured 600 custom 'lime white' glass units for the project, demonstrating one of the many complex chromatic finishes the company can produce.

The Minister praised the company's work, later describing Onyx Solar on his official channels as a "leading-edge company in photovoltaic glass." He stressed that the company is a prime example of "innovation and international presence," directly aligning with Spain's national reindustrialization and energy transition goals.

The visit is part of a broader Ministry focus on promoting sustainable industrial and tourism models. Minister Hereu noted that Ávila serves as the "best example" for the model "Spain needs," one that successfully integrates technological development with the preservation of cultural heritage.

Mayor Sánchez Cabrera thanked the minister for the visit, emphasizing the city's pride in hosting the headquarters of a "world leader in its sector, which carries the city's name worldwide through innovation and sustainability."

Onyx Solar expressed its gratitude for the institutional support and reaffirmed its commitment to the region's economic development and the creation of quality employment.
