Madrid, November 26, 2024 – SEAPLACE successfully organized a specialized Industry Day focused on Service Operation Vessels (SOV) and Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOV) at INTA-CEHIPAR facilities in El Pardo, Madrid. The event brought together 70 professionals from the offshore wind sector, coinciding with World Sustainable Transport Day, to discuss current trends, technological developments, and operational challenges in the industry.
Key topics included the design of vessels for safe operations, cost reduction, electrification of vessels, and the “FW-ready (floating wind ready)” concept to ensure adaptability for future floating wind farms. The need to improve dynamic positioning (DP) systems and ensure safe access to floating platforms was also highlighted.
SEAPLACE was joined by leading industry partners: Gondan, a European leader in SOV and CSOV construction; Airbus Helicopters, with whom SEAPLACE is developing solutions to integrate helicopters into SOVs as logistical bases for personnel transport; and Voith, pioneers in cycloidal propulsion, which ensures the vessels maintain position in adverse sea conditions.
The event also featured a live demonstration of seakeeping tests for the ePROA project, as well as a virtual experience of the CSOV SEA1629, allowing attendees to virtually board the CROWN platform via the vessel’s gangway.
