Siemens wins extension to continue providing service and maintenance at the Wildorado Wind Ranch in Texas, USA

With continued growth in its wind power service business, Siemens Energy has signed a contract extension with Edison Mission Energy to continue providing service and maintenance on the 70 SWT-2.3-93 wind turbines operating at the Wildorado Wind Ranch, near Amarillo, Texas. The extension will help the project perform at optimal levels of efficiency and availability for years to come. Located on approximately 16,000 acres, the 161 megawatt (MW) Wildorado Wind Ranch has the capacity to meet the electricity demand of more than 50,000 households.

The service agreement with Edison Mission Energy adds to the existing five-year agreement a limited warranty and availability guarantee, in addition to specified service and maintenance for five years, marking a total of 10 years at the site for Siemens’ wind service operations. Completed in 2007, the Wildorado Wind Ranch is the largest wind energy facility in the Texas Panhandle region.

A leading provider of wind service globally, Siemens has created a flexible service product portfolio that allows wind turbine owners to choose the level of support to match their needs. The Siemens service program focuses on providing a tiered range of services to help customers achieve high availability throughout the lifecycle of the wind turbines and wind farms.
