As China accelerates its investment in the offshore wind industry, SeaRoc Group has provided essential expertise on the development of reliable communications solutions for projects being built far from shore.
At the recent 3rd National Conference on Offshore Wind Engineering and Technology (NCOWET), SeaRoc Group Managing Director, Steve Pears presented to companies working in the sector to provide guidance on effective communication and tracking for far offshore construction projects.
The ability to communicate at all times with vessels and aircraft during an offshore wind project is a legislative requirement. The location, size and irregular shape of offshore wind farms present new challenges to the safe navigation and communication of shipping and emergency rescue.
“The construction of offshore wind farms brings significant logistical and management challenges. The development of offshore wind power has resulted in farms being constructed in deeper waters and further from shore, making the risks even greater.” Commented Steve Pears, Managing Director at SeaRoc Group.
