ReneSola is celebrating one year of operations since establishing a standalone UK business. In its first year, ReneSola UK has opened a fully stocked warehouse in Newhaven, established a country-wide service network and training programme, and supplied more than 180 MWp of solar modules to the UK market.
And this is just the beginning; ReneSola UK is keen to build on its success and help develop long-term stability and growth in the UK solar market, as Ian Glover, general manager of the company, explains:
“Year one has been a great success for us and 2014 is already looking strong with many new projects and products on the horizon,” he says. “With quality at the heart of our work, we remain focused on expanding the UK’s clean energy industry by increasing the use of solar power and introducing a range of low energy LED products to the market, which we will soon announce. These new products, much like our solar panels, offer advanced, high-quality technology at an affordable price. Along with our small-scale energy storage products, these are just some of our key products that will make 2014 a very exciting year.”
ReneSola UK designs, supplies, maintains and services solar PV modules throughout the UK. One of its most recent rooftop projects is in Solihull, which was commissioned in February. UK-based Spirit Solar built the system, which sits on the roof of a leisure equipment factory owned by the Tandem Group. The company felt a rooftop PV system would not only reduce its CO2 emissions but also make use of redundant space.
“We chose ReneSola due to its high efficiency modules and their competitive pricing, particularly given the current duties proposed to other Chinese module manufacturers,” says Vishal Giga, project manager at Spirit Solar. “Dealing with the UK team made life easy for us. Their transparent approach – from shipments abroad to importer and logistics – meant we knew exactly where our panels were before they arrived on site, which gave us great confidence in their work.”
Other recent UK projects include a 13 MW ground-mounted PV system set over 63.5 acres of land in Wiltshire and a multi-development deal that will see 2,000 ReneSola modules added to a number of housing projects across the UK.
In addition to the supply of modules, ReneSola UK runs PV installer training days. These hands-on courses teach participants how to design solar PV systems and simulate their performance.
Since opening in 2013, ReneSola UK has expanded four-fold and now employs 21 staff. With personnel located across the country, the company’s main focus is to provide full after-sales support to customers, wherever they might be.
