Power Electronics doubles its expansion in the UK energy market and reaches 11 GW AC installed
Published in: Solar, Press Releases
A long‑standing track record in the UK energy market
Power Electronics, the global leader in solar and energy storage inverter manufacturing, has one of the most established and recognised trajectories in the UK energy sector. The United Kingdom was the first international market where the company scaled rapidly and remains Power Electronics’ oldest and most strategic market in Europe.
Some of the earliest UK solar plants equipped with Power Electronics solutions have now been operating continuously for more than 15 years. This long‑term performance reflects the quality of its European‑manufactured equipment combined with a robust, lifecycle‑focused after‑sales service model, providing tangible proof of reliability under real‑world operating conditions.
This extensive experience laid the foundations for Power Electronics’ leadership in energy storage and is now driving its expansion into new critical applications such as data centres, where long‑term availability and resilience are essential.
From early projects to large‑scale deployment
In the United Kingdom alone, Power Electronics has 11 GW of installed capacity, demonstrating the strong confidence that developers and asset owners place in the company’s technology and long-term service capabilities.
The company’s UK presence stretches from its first solar projects to today’s largest storage developments. Its first UK solar plant, commissioned in 2011, remains in operation today. In energy storage, one of Power Electronics' largest projects in the region took place in 2025, involving 145 PCSK battery inverters for the first phase of a major BESS site. The second phase of the same development, with another 150 PCSK units, together with additional projects deploying more than 150 PCSK GEN 3 units, further consolidates the company’s leadership in large-scale storage and its role in supporting the UK’s evolving energy infrastructure.
A local service model built for critical infrastructure
Power Electronics’ leadership in the UK is reinforced by a dedicated local service organisation of more than 60 professionals across the country, ensuring fast response times, in‑depth knowledge of local grid conditions and long‑term technical continuity.
Backed by strategically located spare‑parts hubs and long‑term manufacturing capabilities, this model has enabled the company to sustain plant operation for more than 15 years without major incidents—an essential differentiator for mission‑critical infrastructure.
Addressing the UK’s evolving energy challenges
The UK energy system is entering a new phase, marked by increasing renewable penetration, rapid growth in energy storage and a strong pipeline of data centre developments. These trends require technologies capable of delivering high availability and grid stability under increasingly complex operating scenarios.
Power Electronics addresses these challenges through robust system architectures, advanced grid‑forming capabilities and fully integrated medium‑voltage solutions, supported by experience gained in highly demanding international markets such as Australia.
“Reliability over 15 or 20 years is not achieved through design alone,” explains Borja Monzó, UK Country Manager at Power Electronics. “It requires manufacturing quality, proven technology and a service organisation capable of supporting assets throughout their entire operational life. That combination is what allows us to lead the UK storage market and support new applications such as data centres.”
Power Electronics’ solutions for the UK include the PCSM battery inverter, offering power ratings of up to 5,360 kVA in a fully integrated medium‑voltage architecture, alongside the HEM solar inverter and the Freesun DC/DC converter for highly efficient hybrid solar‑plus‑storage configurations.
Meet Power Electronics at Solar & Storage Live London 2026
