One of the world’s tallest onshore wind turbines erected at Finnish wind farm with SgurrEnergy support

The first of four 210m high wind turbines was erected at a Finnish onshore wind farm this week, with owner’s engineer support from leading renewable energy consultancy, SgurrEnergy. The Nordex N131/3000 wind turbines are among the tallest to be installed onshore in the world.

SgurrEnergy, a Wood Group business, has consulted on the 12MW Tyrinselkä wind farm since the early stages of the project, drawing on expertise across all disciplines to provide a range of services including engineering support and wind analysis.

Appointed as owner’s engineer in early 2014, SgurrEnergy supported the project through the pre-construction phase and assisted in achieving financial close in July 2015. SgurrEnergy’s support included a focus on the tendering processes for the supply of the wind turbines, the Balance of Plant (BoP), and maintenance services, including drafting of BoP employer’s requirements, tender evaluations and contract negotiations.

During the construction phase, the SgurrEnergy team has worked to ensure that the project is built in accordance with industry good practice. In addition to providing project management and construction monitoring services, SgurrEnergy conducted detailed design, technology and milestone reviews.
