Northern Turbine Services secures £300K funding from Royal Bank of Scotland to establish permanent Orkney HQ image

Northern Turbine Services, a specialist provider of installation, repair, and maintenance for onshore wind turbines, has secured £300,000 in funding from the Royal Bank of Scotland to purchase its leased premises in Orkney, establishing a permanent base for future expansion.

Founded in 2015, Northern Turbine Services specialises in the maintenance of smaller onshore wind turbines, many of which were installed when subsidy tariffs were high, providing an attractive financial incentive for the development of such renewable energy sources. 

As these turbines move out of warranty, many models are taken out of commission or cease working, creating a need for organisations such as Northern Turbine Services to step in and provide crucial maintenance, often at large scale, ensuring continued renewable energy contributions to the grid.

With a team of 18 employees and a turnover of £2.5 million, Northern Turbine Services plays a vital role in Scotland's renewable energy sector. The purchase of its Orkney premises will provide stability, allowing for improved service delivery and long-term planning.

Many of our customers are farmers and landowners who rely on their turbines as part of their renewable energy mix. By ensuring these turbines remain operational, we're helping them continue generating clean energy and financial returns."
