MOTEG enters the future stronger with a new ownership structure

Since 1 February 2024, the French hydraulics manufacturer Poclain has been the new main owner of MOTEG GmbH. Together with the other owners HN Holding and MOTEG founder Dr Siegfried Götz, MOTEG is focusing more strongly on growth and innovation.

Growing challenges in international competition and the ever-faster development of technologies in the field of electric drive technology require players to make trend-setting strategic decisions to strengthen their market position in the long term. Cooperation, strategic partnerships, and solid ownership structures are of fundamental importance here. After ten years of successful company history under the management of company founder Dr Siegfried Götz, MOTEG GmbH from Handewitt in Schleswig-Holstein is taking an important strategic step and, with a new main owner, is facing the future with strength and confidence.

As new main owner the independent French industrial group Poclain holds 50.01 percent of MOTEG GmbH since the beginning of February. The French-headquartered manufacturer of hydrostatic and electrohydraulic drives not only offers a solid financial basis as the new principal owner, but also has almost 100 years of international experience in the field of drive systems with a focus on commercial vehicles. The synergy effects between Poclain and MOTEG are therefore obvious. The remaining shares in MOTEG GmbH are distributed in the new ownership structure between HN Holding GmbH (33.33%) – already a co-shareholder of MOTEG GmbH since March 2022 – and CEO and company founder Dr Siegfried Götz (16.66%).

“The combination of new and proven managers offers convincing potential for the further development of the MOTEG brand,” comments Dr Götz on the new ownership structure. “With our combined expertise, many years of entrepreneurial experience and a solid foundation, we believe we are ideally positioned to tackle all challenges, strategic growth and new innovative projects.”

By joining the owners’ association, Poclain is also paving the way for cooperation between MOTEG and other members of the French group. There are already plans for closer cooperation between MOTEG and the Slovenian development and research company EMSISO, which specializes in the development of inverters for electric motor control and has also been part of the Poclain Group since 2022.

Key projects for the near future include the industrialization of the current 20 kW and 40 kW motor variants in size 100 as well as the development and industrialization of other motors in the 50 kW to 100 kW power range.

“Together, we have big plans for the future,” explains Dr Götz. “In any case, we have already created the basic conditions for this with the new ownership structure.”
