Modulift Spreader Beams Perform Record Load Test in Germany

Poole, Dorset, UK >> A 1000t Modulift spreader beam was recently used to conduct an extreme load test in Germany. During the test, two cranes lifted a combined 1,125 tonnes — exceeding the beam’s 1000t rating to validate its integrity and performance under proof-load conditions.

The MOD 800J/1000 spreader beam, supplied by LGH Europe was selected specifically for its lifting capacity and ability to distribute loads across lifting points, providing controlled force transfer to each crane throughout the lift. LGH supplies the MOD spreader beam range from MOD 6 through to MOD 800J/1000 for sales and rental, supporting lifting across construction, renewables and offshore sectors.

Load testing is an essential procedure to verify lifting equipment performance. Testing cranes and hoists at or above their rated capacities allows any potential weaknesses to be identified before operational use, reducing risk to personnel and equipment.
