MERSEN TO EXHIBIT DURING INTERSOLAR 2025, May 7-9, 2025

Published in: Press Releases, Wind

Innovative battery technology supporting a smart and sustainable energy grid harnessing renewable power from wind turbines and solar panels to generate clean efficient electricity for the future

SAINT BONNET DE MURE, 17TH APRIL 2025 – Mersen will be showcasing its latest line up of smart fuse disconnect and surge protection solutions at Intersolar 2025. Visitors to the Mersen booth hall B5 at booth 434 are introduced to the intelligent ProGrid 800 Vac fuse switch disconnector, specifically designed for modern low-voltage networks and large-scale photovoltaic (PV) installations.

ProGrid: The smart fuse switch disconnector for the energy transition

Mersen’s ProGrid represents a new generation of protection devices aimed at optimizing the reliability and safety of distribution infrastructures, while facilitating predictive maintenance and energy efficiency.

Based on Mersen’s classic NH fuse switch disconnectors and developed in collaboration with major European grid operators, ProGrid is a modular NH fuse switch disconnector that not only ensures reliable short-circuit and overcurrent protection but also can integrate power monitoring features. Its patented switching mechanism enables seamless integration and enhances both speed and safety, helping to optimize overall system architecture. Mersen is also the only supplier offering both NH fuses and fuse switch disconnectors – ensuring full compatibility and peace of mind.

Scalable Intelligence

From basic protection to full grid intelligence, ProGrid is a versatile solution offering a future-proof path to network digitalization. ProGrid comes in three modular versions:

ProGrid: standard protection for secondary substations and LV switchgear

ProGrid Smart: thanks to ProGrid’s embedded sensors for real-time monitoring of energy flows, transformer health and environmental data, ProGrid Smart meets the evolving needs of modern PV installations. It can record energy flows and measures key parameters such as transformer status, environmental conditions, and cabinet access — making it a smart, connected solution for today’s evolving energy systems.

ProGrid SmartStation: Combines the Smart disconnector with additional sensors and monitoring devices for full supervision of transformer stations. In addition to energy monitoring, it allows tracking additional parameters such as temperature, humidity, opening.

Advanced surge protection for PV, EV, BESS, and DC microgrids

In addition to its advanced fuse switch disconnector for PV, Mersen also offers a broad range of Surge Protection Devices (SPDs) on full display at Intersolar show. Mersen’s SPD portfolio combines innovation, performance, and sustainability, and includes solutions for:

Photovoltaic installations – including DC junction boxes to protect inverters, ideal for 1000 VDC rooftop installations

Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) – with dedicated DC SPDs for power conversion system protection

EV fast charging – AC and DC surge protection tailored for high-power applications

Driving the Futures DC Distribution

Mersen is deeply committed to the energy transition and net-zero goals, actively contributing to the development of DC microgrids — especially for critical infrastructure and distributed energy networks. With the rise of EVs, data centers and connected factories, the demand for efficient electrification is rapidly increasing. Direct current (DC) plays a key role in building a more resilient and sustainable energy system.

As the market shifts toward higher voltages, particularly around 2000VDC, Mersen is at the forefront of developing innovative protection solutions to meet the evolving demands of energy storage, e-mobility, and renewable applications. With its deep expertise in electrical safety, Mersen is helping manufacturers design more compact, efficient, and reliable systems. Mersen’s commitment to innovation positions it as a key enabler in this new era of high-voltage DC architectures.

As a board member of Current OS and active member of ODCA, two foundations developing future DC standards, Mersen is helping shape the future of DC distribution. These foundations aim to provide concrete answers to global energy challenges — by optimizing distribution, reducing congestion and enabling smarter energy management.

Visitors to Mersen booth can experience firsthand the complete range of DC fuses for effective protection of DC equipment and micro grids.
