11 September 2025 – Design and engineering consultancy Longitude and the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) have teamed up to provide developers and operators of offshore wind farms with an integrated technical offering in offshore wind design, from concept to detailed design, including foundations, subsea cables and offshore substations.
NGI, which is an international, independent centre for research and consultancy in the field of geotechnical engineering and engineering geosciences, is a world leader in geotechnical design for offshore wind foundations and anchors including monopiles, jacket piles and suction buckets. NGI combines unique geotechnical and geoscience capabilities to develop smart and sustainable infrastructure solutions offshore and on land.

Under the terms of the agreement, Longitude and NGI are able to collaborate in applied geosciences, geotechnical design and structural design to support the offshore wind market. The collaboration will focus on knowledge exchange, market approach and joint execution of projects, including WTG foundations, subsea cables and offshore substations. The combined efforts of NGI and Longitude within offshore wind design and engineering offer a unique pool of expertise to the market, with more than 2200 dedicated offshore specialists and 400 geotechnical engineers.
“Our goal is to provide clients with an enhanced and integrated technical offering in offshore wind design, to foster innovation and deliver new solutions to support sector growth. The collaboration with Longitude will cover both concept, FEED and detailed design work,” says Thomas Langford, NGI’s director of offshore energy.
Although Norwegian by name, NGI is an international consultancy and research business with offices in Norway (Oslo, Trondheim, and Tromsø), the USA (Houston and Boston), and Australia (Perth). It also operates internationally-renowned laboratories in Oslo, Houston, and Perth. NGI is soon to open a new office in central London to continue developing its pipeline of projects across Europe.
Longitude specialises in offshore wind design, facilities and subsea, and marine operations engineering.
