Amsterdam, Netherlands, May 15, 2014 – Dutch company Mastervolt is going to showcase a new, modular solar storage system at Intersolar 2014. The system is compatible with PV inverters from all manufacturers, which makes it particularly suitable for retrofitting existing photovoltaic installations. All components, including the MLI Ultra lithium-ion batteries, are developed and manufactured by Mastervolt. For more than 5 years lithium ion battery technology has been one of the major product groups at Mastervolt and it has been successfully supplied to marine, mobile and industrial applications, where Mastervolt systems ensure an independent power supply.

The 5 kWh version of the storage solution consists of an integrated battery charger and 2500 Watt inverter (Combi), the multifunctional MLI Ultra lithium-ion battery and an integrated monitoring system. Thanks to pre-configured connections, it’s particularly easy to connect the storage system to a PV installation and integrate it into the domestic electrical system. The components can be delivered either separately or pre-mounted in a standard industrial cabinet. Both versions are displayed at the Intersolar.
The MLI Ultra lithium ion battery is a second generation technology for Mastervolt and proofs to withstand harsh condition (IP65), is very reliable and intelligent with an integrated battery-management-system and an active cell balancing system. Embedded software monitors the system. With the safe li-ion iron phosphate (LiFePo4) technology the MLI Ultra offers a performance increase over the best lead acid batteries of 3 to 4 times in cycle life, depth of discharge, charge and discharge rate, volume and weight.
Mastervolt focusses with their residential storage systems on applications ranging from 2,5kWh up to 30kWh in both 12VDC, 24VDC and 48VDC.
The list price for a complete storage solution with a capacity of 5 kWh and lithium-ion batteries starts at 8,800 Euros excluding VAT.
