GridBeyond Joins Chemical Industries Association to Support Businesses in Navigating Complex Energy Markets

GridBeyond, the global leader in intelligent energy technology for industrial and commercial businesses, has joined the Chemical Industries Association (CIA) as an associate member.

The company supports chemical and pharmaceutical businesses in improving their bottom line through new revenues and savings, and enhancing their sustainability credentials. This is achieved by enabling energy services, including energy market participation, without any capital expenditure or impact on operational integrity.

GridBeyond works alongside large energy users, including some of the planet’s best-loved brands, to deliver demand response revenues, enhanced savings, strengthened operations and energy performance via the award-winning AI Point platform. The company harnesses the power of technology to connect I&C businesses, such as those in the chemical industry, and their energy intensive assets, such as cooling towers and extruders, on-site generation and energy storage to financially rewarding programmes.

Michael Phelan, Chief Executive and Co-founder at GridBeyond, commented:

“The energy landscape can be a complicated place to follow. We are glad to have joined the Chemical Industries Association to support members with our expertise and energy market insights. Demand side response services and intelligent energy management enable organisations to earn additional income and generate cost savings whilst having no impact on capital expenditure budgets. These services are crucial during times of economic uncertainty, enabling businesses quick access to new, long-term revenue streams to help protect their bottom line.

“Due to the type of assets used by chemical and pharmaceutical producers and manufacturers, they are ideally positioned to benefit from participation in grid balancing services. Cooling towers, compressors, pumps, extruders and on-site generators such as CHP provide significant volumes of energy flexibility, which, once monetised through collaboration with National Grid, can benefit the business with an additional revenue stream of up to £100k per MW.”

Mike Lancaster, Head of Regional Affairs and Associate Member Account Manager at the Chemical Industries Association, commented:

‘’We are delighted to welcome GridBeyond into membership. The chemical sector is highly energy intensive and is continuously striving to become more energy efficient. By working with solution providers like GridBeyond we can both reduce the carbon footprint and reduce the energy costs for the sector.’’

GridBeyond believes that education leads to better, more informed business decisions. To support businesses in navigating the complexity of the energy markets, GridBeyond developed an academy of educational resources ranging from whitepapers and guides to blogs and webinars.

CIA members are exclusively invited to join the next CPD certified GridBeyond Academy webinar: “Energy Services in the Chemicals Industry”. Energy experts and engineers from GridBeyond will talk through the opportunities available and how best to find flexibility in assets commonly used in chemicals. To join GridBeyond on the 27th May at 10am, head toGridBeyond.com/academy and search Chemical.
