Strategic collaboration to accelerate long-duration energy storage and intelligent energy systems, strengthening Singapore’s energy resilience and renewable integration.

Belém, Brazil, 18 November 2025 (BST)GoRental SG, Higher Dimension Materials Inc. (HDM Inc.), and Pylon City have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at COP30 in Belém, Brazil, marking a significant step towards scaling long-duration energy storage and intelligent energy technologies for Singapore and Southeast Asia.

The partnership integrates the complementary strengths of three clean-energy innovators: GoRental SG’s distributed renewable-power systems, HDM Inc.’s Si707 molten-silicon long-duration energy storage technology, and Pylon City’s intelligent Nexus System for real-time energy monitoring, optimisation, and carbon accounting. Together, the organisations aim to bridge a critical market gap in long-duration renewable storage, a need underscored by ongoing national discussions around grid stability, battery safety, and energy security.

Speaking on the announcement, Colin Peh, Founder and Managing Director of GoRental SG, said, “Long-duration storage is no longer a theoretical ambition, it is becoming a practical requirement for communities and businesses seeking stable, clean power. This collaboration is about building solutions that match the realities of the region: systems that are safe, scalable, and grounded in real-world use. Our work through CETRIC allows us to bring together researchers, engineers, and industry partners to speed up that journey, so the benefits of innovation reach the people who need them most.

Recent reporting highlights the growing relevance of long-duration solutions in supporting Singapore’s transition to renewable energy. The MOU builds on momentum created by the newly launched Clean Energy Technology, Research and Innovation Centre (CETRIC), co-created by GoRental SG and the Singapore Battery Consortium (SBC). CETRIC’s mission is to bring together science, industry, and practical deployment to accelerate innovations in long-duration storage, intelligent grid systems, and circular battery solutions aligned with the Singapore Green Plan 2030 and the national net-zero goal by 2050.

A flagship project of the collaboration is the Si707 Long-Duration Energy Storage System, developed by HDM Inc. The Si707 system uses molten silicon to store energy for up to two weeks, providing an alternative to conventional short-duration systems and offering fire-safe, durable, and cost-efficient performance for industrial, grid, and remote applications. This hardware is paired with Pylon City’s Nexus System, enabling transparency, predictive optimisation, and measurable emissions tracking across distributed assets.

Under the MOU, the organisations intend to raise SGD $5 to $10 million over the next three years to strengthen CETRIC’s research ecosystem and accelerate technology development and deployment.

The signing ceremony, held at COP30 and witnessed by Singapore’s Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, Ms Grace Fu, underscores Singapore’s commitment to innovation-driven climate action and the advancement of future-ready clean-energy technologies.
