Long-established Austrian company Fronius is expanding its product portfolio with a new energy storage solution. The Fronius Reserva Pro helps customers with higher energy needs, such as farms, SMEs, and even large family homes, to embrace true energy independence. This high-efficiency solution, with cells and modules made in Europe, comes backed up by proven Fronius quality.

A standout feature of the high-voltage battery is its flexible scalability with storage capacities of 12 to 32 kWh per tower and up to 128 kWh in parallel connection. Perfectly matched to the Fronius hybrid inverters Verto Plus and GEN24 Plus, the Fronius Reserva Pro fits seamlessly into the Fronius product portfolio, from commissioning through everyday operation.

Ready for anything—including power outages

“Energy independence is becoming an increasingly popular choice. People want to make sure they’re covered. Our Fronius Reserva Pro also makes this an option for customers with higher energy needs, such as farms, SMEs, or large family homes,” says Harald Scherleitner, CSO of Fronius International.

With its backup power function and black-start capability, the Fronius Reserva Pro ensures a stable supply even in the event of a power outage. In this case, Fronius inverters work together with a switching component, such as the Fronius Backup Controller, which maintains a reliable supply to the connected loads. The system switches to backup power mode, while the Reserva Pro makes the stored energy available.

This combination is crucial to keeping companies in the black, particularly in industries such as agriculture that depend on stable refrigeration chains and working milking systems. “Reserva Pro and Verto Plus are a real dream team. This dynamic duo delivers charging and discharging powers of up to 28.3 kW, which means that even large loads such as feed mills or planers can stay up and running in the event of a power outage or even be started if necessary,” says Scherleitner.

Maximum efficiency

The DC coupling ensures that the PV power generated is transferred into the battery and used with an especially high degree of efficiency. Installation of the Fronius Reserva Pro is quick and straightforward. By utilizing an effortless stacking design, it completely eliminates the need for hardware. This simplifies and speeds up both the initial installation and later expansions.

Using advanced AI technology, the Fronius Energy Cost Assistant continuously analyzes the expected production of the PV system, the energy consumption, and the current electricity price. Based on fluctuations in energy prices, it pinpoints the ideal time to charge or discharge the battery, saving money in the process.

On the safe side

The lithium iron phosphate cell chemistry used in the Fronius Reserva yields a particularly long battery life and high level of safety. Along with product safety, data security is a top priority at Fronius. Data is stored exclusively on European servers and clouds to ensure high cybersecurity and data privacy. “Data security is a top priority for us. Customer and system data, for example, is stored separately and exclusively in Europe,” explains Scherleitner.

The Fronius Solar.web monitoring platform offers customers with a battery storage system the option of quickly and easily charging the battery from the grid using an app. For example, it can ensure the energy storage system is fully charged before a storm and keep the home supplied with power during an outage, even when there’s no sunlight.

Made in Europe*

Fronius is a family business and produces the majority of its products in Europe, primarily at its sites in Upper Austria and the Czech Republic. This focus on European value creation helps the company guarantee its high quality and safety standards, which is why both the cells and modules of the Reserva Pro are manufactured in Europe.
