Flender, a global leader in mechanical and electrical drive systems, announced the completion of a new service facility in Campbellfield, Melbourne, through its wind division, Winergy. The investment underscores Flender's commitment to supporting Australia's renewable energy transition and customers through enhanced local service capabilities, job creation, and reduced carbon footprint.
Strategic Investment in Australia's Wind Energy Future
Located at Melbourne, Australia, the facility represents a significant investment in Australia's growing wind energy sector. Designed to meet the evolving needs of the country's expanding wind installation base, the Melbourne location will serve as Winergy's primary service hub for Australia and join the other service locations to provide services also for the broader Asia-Pacific region.
Flender CEO Andreas Evertz: "Our new Melbourne facility reflects Flender's dedication to being close to our customers and providing world-class service locally. As Australia's wind energy capacity continues to grow, local service infrastructure becomes increasingly critical. This facility enables us to deliver our proven Service360 solutions with the responsiveness and efficiency that only a local presence can provide."
Advanced Capabilities for Wind Turbine Drivetrain Service
The new facility is designed and equipped from the ground to answer both the current and future wind turbine drivetrain service demands. It includes Australia’s biggest multi-megawatt test bench, ensuring each serviced unit undergoes comprehensive load testing in accordance with customer requirements, driving optimal performance and reliability. Heavy-lift crane capacity has been installed for both current and in anticipation of next-generation wind turbine drivetrain components. These investments in combination with advanced logistics, modern racking systems, and an integrated office and workshop approach guarantee optimized workflow. A through-and-through collaborative and solutions-oriented service facility.
Supporting Australia's Energy Transition
The Melbourne facility represents more than operational expansion—it demonstrates Flender's commitment to Australia's sustainable energy future. "By establishing comprehensive service capabilities in Australia, we're not only supporting the local wind energy industry but also contributing to the broader goal of reducing carbon emissions,” said Kareem Emara, Managing Director of Flender Australia and New Zealand. “Local service means faster response times, reduced logistics requirements, and a smaller environmental footprint—all while creating meaningful employment opportunities for Australian workers and investing in the country's renewable energy infrastructure."
Antti Turunen, Vice President Wind Service, adds: “Winergy Service360 specializes in multibrand wind turbine drivetrain service, providing comprehensive support regardless of original equipment manufacturer. This vendor-independent approach ensures Australian wind farm operators have access to expert service and support for their entire fleet.”
Commitment to Safety and Excellence
Safety remains paramount in the new facility's operations. All necessary occupational certifications have been secured, with Flender maintaining a zero-accident work environment as its standard. Comprehensive IT infrastructure and network security solutions ensure reliable, secure operations.
