Eurosolar Announces 2011 European Solar Prize Proposals Accepted Until End Of June

Outstanding achievements, innovation and creativity in spreading renewable energy and its applications will be recognized through the annual EUROSOLAR European Solar Prize also in 2011. EUROSOLAR accepts applications and proposals until 30th June 2011. The winners will be honoured at a ceremonious event at the end of the year.

Established in 1994, the European Solar Prize has since been given to towns, community businesses, associations, individuals and organizations for making an exemplary contribution to the use of renewable energy. To cover the broad effects and diversity of renewable energy applications, the prize is presented in nine categories:

– Towns/municipalities, council districts, public utilities
– Industrial and commercial companies or farmers
– Local or regional associations/organizations
– Solar architecture and urban planning
– Media
– Transport and mobility
– Education and vocational training
– One world cooperation
– Special achievement prize for individual commitment

The panel of judges will assess the applications received directly and also the proposals by the EUROSOLAR section members, chosen from submissions already rewarded at the national levels. The winners of the European Solar Prize will then be selected from all applications.

Further information on how to enter, online entry form and previous winners is available here.
