DBB Jack-Up signs contract for new-built J/U WIND SERVER

Last week, DBB Jack-Up’s new purpose-built vessel J/U WIND SERVER commenced a new important contract to help bring green electricity to 320,000 German households. The vessel has been chartered by Siemens AG to perform offshore installation support and function as accommodation vessel for Siemens’ commissioning teams on the installation of the Borkum Riffgrund 1 project in the German North Sea.

The Borkum Riffgrund 1 project is owned by DONG Energy, KIRKBI A/S and William Demant Invest A/S and comprises 78 Siemens 3.6 MW wind turbines. When completed, the wind farm will be capable of generating up to 312 MW of green electricity thanks to the upgraded turbines.

“We are very pleased to expand on our existing cooperation and partnership with Siemens to include installation support as well as O&M activities,” explains Ole Jacob W. Nielsen, Head of Sales & Marketing.

DBB Jack-Up took delivery of J/U WIND SERVER late December 2014 and the vessel recently completed its first operation decommissioning a met mast on the Horns Rev 1 project in Denmark. As from March 2016, J/U WIND SERVER will commence a three-year charter for Siemens Wind Power.
