Clark MacFarlane joins OWGP’s board of directors
Published in: Wind, Press Releases

The Offshore Wind Growth Partnership (OWGP) has appointed former Siemens Gamesa UK Managing Director, Clark MacFarlane, to its board as an independent director.
A long-time advocate and champion of the offshore wind supply chain, Clark has played a leading role in shaping the growth of the UK offshore wind industry. He was instrumental in the development of the Offshore Wind Sector Deal, the creation of OWGP itself, and the recent Industrial Growth Plan (IGP).
Clark has enjoyed a 43-year career within Siemens, holding senior leadership positions across five UK and European businesses covering Power Generation, Defence, Building Technologies and IT Solutions & Services. From 2012–2023, he served as CEO Europe/Middle East and UK Managing Director of the Wind Businesses, during which time he oversaw rapid industry expansion and the strengthening of the UK offshore wind supply chain.
He also served as Vice-Chair of the Offshore Wind Industry Council (OWIC), representing the supply chain at the highest levels, and as a board member of RenewableUK and the G+ safety organisation, where he was the first and only non-developer/operator appointed.
OWGP Programme Director, Anil Sayhan, said:
“We are pleased to welcome Clark to the OWGP Board. Clark has an extensive track record of leadership across multiple sectors. He is well known for his long-standing commitment to strengthening the offshore wind supply chain. In his OWIC Vice-Chair role, Clark has been a strong advocate of OWGP and how it can deliver on the Industrial Growth Plan’s ambitions, securing jobs, investment, and competitive advantage for the UK. I am looking forward to delivering the implementation phase together.”
Tim Pick, Chair of the Offshore Wind Growth Partnership and Commissioner of the Clean Power 2030 Advisory Commission, added:
“I am delighted to welcome Clark MacFarlane to our board. Clark needs no introduction to the sector, having been at the forefront of offshore wind supply chain development in the UK for many years. His past experiences, including continuity from his role in OWIC, will stand us in good stead as we lean into our name mandate.”
Commenting on his appointment, Clark MacFarlane, OWGP Director, said:
“I’m thrilled to join the OWGP Board at such an important time for the industry. The UK has established itself as a global leader in offshore wind, but to maintain that position we must continue to invest in and grow our domestic supply chain.
“OWGP has a unique role to play in driving that growth, enabling businesses across the sector to expand, compete and deliver long-term value for the UK economy.
“I look forward to working with the Board and our stakeholders to transform the ambitions of the IGP into tangible outcomes that will strengthen the supply chain, create jobs, and secure the UK’s leadership in offshore wind.”
In June 2025, OWGP officially assumed the role of IGP Delivery Body as part of its ongoing mission to accelerate the development of the UK’s offshore wind supply chain. In this role, OWGP acts as the coordinating mechanism for the Plan’s execution, facilitating alignment across industry, government and other stakeholders, and ensuring that investments are both impactful and consistent with industrial strategy. OWGP will monitor and report on its progress and regularly refresh the Plan to meet the sector’s evolving needs.
