Change of name for connector company Multi-Contact

Leading electrical connector manufacturer Multi-Contact is to be known as Staubli Electrical Connectors from 1 January 2017. The company has been a member of the Staubli Group for almost 15 years and its worldwide name change will align its brand identity with the rest of the group.

“As far as our customers and suppliers are concerned, the new name will not affect our day to day activities, and they will be dealing with our same staff as before,” said Selwyn Corns, managing director of Multi-Contact UK. “Our location will also remain unchanged.”

One of the company’s best known products is the CombiTac modular connector system, which offers a wide range of combinations of contact types including high voltage, high current, data, fibre optic, power, thermocouple and coaxial contacts, as well as pneumatic and fluid connectors.

Another flagship product is the MC4 photovoltaic connector range, over a billion of which have been installed worldwide, making them an industry standard in the solar power sector.

“Taking on the Staubli brand underscores our membership in this innovative group,” said Franco Delvecchio, CEO of Multi-Contact and member of the senior management of the Staubli Group.

“We are convinced that this step will make us an even more effective presence on the market. Together we can advance the development of cutting-edge products and customer-specific solutions to an even greater degree. Under the Staubli brand, we will now offer the entire spectrum of connectors for electrical, fluid and gas transmission, which is unique on the world market.”

Multi-Contact was founded in Basel, Switzerland in 1962 as a family company and has been a member of the Staubli Group for almost 15 years, operating as its Electrical Connectors Division.

The Staubli Group is an international provider of innovative mechatronic solutions in the areas of connectors, both electrical and fluid, robots and textile machines. Founded in Switzerland in 1882, the company is still family owned. It is active in 25 countries with over 4,500 employees and a sales and service network in 50 countries.
