BYD Energy Storage Surpasses 1.5 Million Global Residential Installations with Next-Generation Residential Energy Storage Portfolio

Shenzhen/Munich, Dec 18, 2025 – BYD Energy Storage, a business division of BYD Co. Ltd., a provider of integrated renewable energy solutions, today announced that more than 1.5 million residential energy storage systems have now been installed worldwide. This milestone reflects its ten years of continuous innovation in the residential and small commercial energy storage market and reinforces its position as one of the most widely adopted distributed energy storage solutions globally.

A new generation of energy storage innovations

This achievement comes during a year of significant product innovation and strategic expansion for the residential energy storage line. In 2025, BYD Energy Storage introduced several new models designed to deliver higher performance, greater flexibility and enhanced long-term value for users. Among the highlights is the launch of the Battery-Box HVB, the first Battery-Box system to adopt BYD’s advanced Blade Battery technology. The HVB delivers substantial performance improvements, increasing gravimetric energy density by 49.86% to 108.8 Wh/kg and volumetric energy density by 139.7% to 162.88 Wh/L compared with the previous system generation. This allows homeowners to benefit from more energy in a lighter, more compact footprint while enabling faster and easier installations.

Another addition to the portfolio is the HVE Solution, featuring an ultra-thin 140mm design, supports flexible combinations of 4.29 kWh and 6.43 kWh capacity modules, offering up to 12 configuration options. The new large-capacity A/B package option for HVE further reduces total system costs without compromising system flexibility, helping users achieve higher investment returns at a time when energy storage economics become increasingly important. This year also marks a strategic step for BYD Energy Storage with the launch of its first residential solution integrating the Battery-Box system with its own inverters – the new Power-Box inverters, which are available as single-phase and three-phase high-voltage systems for the Battery-Box HVE models, delivering a fully integrated solution.

In addition, the company expanded its low-voltage range with the new Battery-Box LV5.0+ and Power-Box SL inverters addressing both residential backup and smaller commercial installations. Popular series including HVS and HVM also saw upgrades with the introduction of the Battery-Box HVS+ and HVM+, providing improved performance and installation ease. 

Enhancing user value: reliability, system longevity and sustainability

Across global residential PV and storage markets, investment returns have become a defining priority for end users. Enhancing user value is therefore a critical challenge for the entire industry. BYD Energy Storage’s portfolio evolution directly addresses this, offering a 15-year warranty for both HVB and HVE models, increasing long-term confidence and improving financial certainty for homeowners. Alongside this, BYD Energy Storage is expanding its ecosystem with intelligent energy management features, home charging solutions and an integrated digital platform designed to optimize performance and user experience across the entire system lifecycle.

Over the past year, BYD’s S&P Global CSA score increased by 20 points, representing a 52.63% improvement, and its MSCI ESG rating was upgraded to AA.
