Hamburg, September 10th, 2025 – Buss Energy Group, a specialist in onshore wind turbine service and maintenance, has signed a Full Scope agreement with Nordex Group to deliver major component exchange services using the Liftra LT1200 Self-Hoisting Crane. The deal, which was closed in April, signals a new chapter in wind energy maintenance, culminating in a record-breaking 164-meter major component exchange using a self-hoisting crane, the highest of its kind globally.
Under the Full Scope agreement, Buss Energy is responsible for every aspect of the component exchange process, from crane provisioning to detailed planning, logistics, and technical execution. The collaboration allows Nordex Group to tap into Buss Energy's expansive field expertise while leveraging the Liftra LT1200 Self-Hoisting Crane's unique ability to climb turbines independently, eliminating the need for large mobile cranes and access roads.
Record-Breaking Operation in Northern Germany
In June, Buss Energy completed the world’s first major component exchange at 164 meters hub height using a LT1200 Liftra Self-Hoisting Crane. This milestone underscores Buss Energy’s pioneering approach and capacity to deliver complex services at new altitudes as well as the readiness to support Nordex Group across its European fleet.
Buss Energy: Europe’s First Independent Liftra Self-Hoisting Crane Operator
Buss Energy has become the first service provider in Europe to own a Liftra LT1200 Self-Hoisting Crane. With a team of highly qualified and certified service technicians, the company brings extensive expertise in major component exchanges. Now, they are expanding their capabilities by building hands-on experience in operating and managing the Liftra Self-Hoisting Crane.
This milestone project is being carried out in collaboration with Nordex Group, marking another step forward in their strong partnership. Equipped with this cutting-edge technology, Buss Energy reinforces its position as a distinctive and agile service partner in a rapidly evolving market—driving efficiency and setting new standards in major component replacement.
Trusted Partnership Backed by Industry Leaders
The collaboration has drawn strong support from both Nordex Group and Liftra, who see Buss Energy Group as a key player in scaling next-generation wind turbine maintenance.
Per Fenger, CEO of Liftra, emphasized the importance of experience in this niche field: “Buss Energy brings strong technical expertise and real-world know-how to major component exchanges. It’s great to see an independent service provider stepping up to operate Liftra Self-Hoisting Cranes in Europe—we’re excited to support their journey.”
From the OEM side, Joachim Schalk, Senior Vice President of Service Operations at Nordex Group, pointed to the practical benefits already seen: “We’ve long believed in the concept of having a full-scope Liftra Self-Hoisting Crane service provider who can manage both the crane and the exchange process. The early jobs completed by Buss Energy have really confirmed that this model works—and that they’re the right partner to deliver it.”
Christian Busdiecker, CEO of Buss Energy Group, sees this as just the beginning: “With turbines getting taller, Liftra Self-Hoisting Cranes aren’t just an advantage—they’re quickly becoming essential. We're fully committed to expanding our Liftra SHC service offering and continuing to deliver high-quality results for Nordex Group and the wider wind industry.”
