Applus+ to acquire APEM Group and launch a new global Environmental Services business image
  •  Applus+ expands its sustainability footprint with the acquisition of APEM Group, a global environmental consultancy firm.
  •  The deal opens a new growth path for the Group in a fast-expanding market, with strong value creation potential. 

Madrid, 25 September 2025 – Applus+, a global leader in testing, inspection and certification, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire APEM Group for a consideration of c. £335m. The acquisition expands Applus+ into the high-growth environmental consultancy space, adding scale, expertise, superior margins and substantial value creation potential. The agreement will lead to the creation of a new global Environmental Services business headed by Leah McGimpsey, CEO of APEM Group. 

APEM Group provides independent environmental consultancy and expert scientific advice to a wide range of industries including water, renewables, infrastructure, power and utilities, ports and harbors, as well as to regulators and governments across the UK, Ireland, Australia, the Middle East and the US. Employing around 850 professionals, it generated more than £95 million in revenue in the twelve months to June 2025, with EBITDA margins above 24%.

APEM Group’s data-driven approach, combined with highly specialized advice and long-term project cycles, supports a strong recurring revenue model. Its positioning has consistently delivered double-digit growth, both organically and through a successful acquisition strategy.

This deal brings together two highly complementary businesses, enhancing our ability to serve clients across key sectors with broader capabilities and deeper expertise. EBITDA synergies estimated at circa £10m on a run rate basis over the next three to five years.

The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close before year end.
