Klerksdorp, South Africa, April 26, 2026 — Sineng Electric has successfully supplied and commissioned 19 units of its advanced central inverter skids for the 120 MW Doornhoek PV Solar Project, located near Klerksdorp in South Africa’s North-West Province. The ground-mounted solar project is owned and developed by AMEA Power, with Sterling & Wilson serving as the EPC contractor, and forms part of South Africa's Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme, Round 6 (REIPPPPR6).
Spanning approximately 200 hectares (490 acres), the project has achieved full-capacity grid connection, contributing to South Africa’s growing renewable energy portfolio and supporting the country’s strategic transition from coal-dependent power generation toward a more diversified energy mix.
For this landmark project, Sineng Electric supplied EP-6600-HB-UD, 33kV central turnkey skids, specifically engineered for utility-scale solar applications. Featuring a high DC/AC ratio, the solution enables enhanced energy yield while supporting large block sizes to reduce overall system costs. Designed to withstand demanding environmental conditions, the inverters are equipped with IP65-rated protection, ensuring long-term reliability amid dust and sandstorms. In addition, the solution supports stable operation across a wide temperature range from −30°C to 60°C.
Leveraging its well-established regional presence, Sineng’s marketing, technical, and service teams across the Middle East and African (MEA) markets provided comprehensive on-site support throughout installation, commissioning, and grid connection. This localized, end-to-end support contributed to the project’s smooth execution.
Once fully operational, the Doornhoek Solar Power Station is expected to generate more than 325 GWh of clean electricity annually, supplying power to approximately 97,000 households and offsetting an estimated 330,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year.
As South Africa continues to advance renewable energy deployment amid supportive policies, growing electricity demand, and the urgent need for reliable power infrastructure, utility-scale solar projects are set to play an increasingly vital role. Sineng Electric remains committed to delivering high-performance energy solutions and supporting South Africa’s long-term clean energy transition through continuous technological innovation, robust product quality, and localized service capabilities.
