Bremen/Emden (Germany), 9 October 2026. With the change of ownership finalised today, Ocean Breeze Energy (OBE) is beginning to implement the continued operation of Germany’s first offshore wind farm, alpha ventus, to maximise the potential of this pioneering project. The management of OBE now also forms the management of Deutsche Offshore-Testfeld und Infrastruktur GmbH & Co. KG (DOTI).

“We would like to thank EWE, RWE and Vattenfall for ensuring the transaction went smoothly, and all our partners who supported us in executing in the process of acquisition of alpha ventus. We are now looking forward to the challenge of utilising the existing infrastructure for as long as possible to generate North Sea electricity, in order to drive the energy transition forward as effectively as possible,” says Jean Huby, Managing Director of Ocean Breeze Energy and DOTI.

Now that OBE has taken over the holding company for the North Sea wind farm, the top priority is to ensure its continued operation and to integrate the project into the existing processes of OBE, the specialist offshore wind farm operator. With alpha ventus, twelve 5-megawatt offshore wind turbines and a substation have been added to the Bard Offshore 1 wind farms and the prototype turbines at Rysumer Nacken. OBE currently operates 94 wind turbines and two substations.

This success is the result of months of intensive collaboration with the previous consortium of owners, both internally and with partners from all the companies involved. Ocean Breeze Energy will commence work at the alpha ventus offshore wind farm and will now focus on its ongoing operation.

About alpha ventus

The wind farm, situated some 45 kilometres north of Borkum, began operating in 2010 with twelve turbines and a total capacity of 60 megawatts.
