At the CLEANPOWER event in Texas, Stefann Perrigot, Director at PES Wind, caught up with Joel Saxum, VP of Growth, Partnerships, and Customer Success from SkySpecs, to discuss the company's evolution and the diverging operational landscapes across global regions.
Saxum shared that SkySpecs has scaled significantly beyond its foundation of performing 60,000 to 80,000 wind turbine inspections annually. The company has developed into an extensive lifecycle partner, offering financial asset management, drivetrain monitoring software, and a newly established repair vendor management program to streamline field operations. Driven by customer request, SkySpecs has also brought its data-to-action methodology over to the solar sector with their Horizon software, providing operators with prioritized checklists of anomalies based on daily revenue loss.
The discussion focused heavily on how the US vs. Europe renewable energy markets differ in scale and structure. Saxum pointed out that the US features massive, centralized projects, such as 850-megawatt solar farms, whereas the European market is more fragmented. In Europe, ownership models frequently lean toward financial funds managing smaller, disparate sites across different regions, which drives a higher demand for unified financial and data asset management platforms to optimize performance globally.
