ThayerMahan Advances Eco-Safe Offshore Wind Tech | In Conversation Ep. 53

Published in: Wind, In Conversation

Dustin Rathbone Project Manager, and Cody Gondyke, Brand Director at ThayerMahan, Inc., met with Stefann Perrigot, Director at PES Wind, during WindEurope in Copenhagen.

Their bubble curtain system plays a crucial role in mitigating underwater noise during pile-driving—reducing seabed decibels by up to 90% to minimize disturbance to local marine life, including whales. By pumping air through perforated hoses, the system creates a barrier of bubbles that absorbs and deflects harmful sound waves.

Complementing this is their Sea Picket system, which monitors marine activity around project sites. If protected species, like whales, are detected near active zones, operations can be adjusted to maintain compliance and environmental stewardship.

Combined with remote-controlled subsea lifting capabilities that keep crews safe and cable corridors clear, these innovations demonstrate the vital role of environmental monitoring and safety technologies in advancing responsible offshore wind development.
