Kraken Showcases Catfish 180 for Advanced Offshore Wind Surveys at IPF25 | In Conversation Ep. 51

Published in: Wind, In Conversation

Chris Almond, Vice President – Business Development Survey Services at Kraken Robotics, met with Stefann Perrigot, Director at PES Wind, during the IPF25 in Virginia Beach.

Purpose-built for high-resolution seabed imaging, the Catfish 180 features Kraken’s proprietary Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS) integrated into a uniquely engineered, self-stabilizing tow body. Its self-actuating fins correct heading in real-time, maintaining platform stability and ensuring optimal sonar performance.

Equipped with an inertial navigation system (INS), DVL, multibeam echo sounder, and USBL tracking, the Catfish enables precise, efficient subsea mapping—critical for offshore wind site characterization. The result: unmatched image clarity, reduced survey time, and lower project costs.

As offshore wind development moves into deeper and more complex environments, Kraken’s advanced solutions help developers make smarter, data-driven decisions—laying the groundwork for safer and more efficient infrastructure deployment.
