HIGHVOLT Brings Advanced Cable Testing to Offshore Wind | In Conversation

Published in: Wind, In Conversation

High-voltage cable testing technology is moving into the offshore wind medium-voltage market.

At Global Offshore Wind, Stefann Perrigot spoke with Richard Gardner and Mario Jochim from HIGHVOLT Prüftechnik Dresden GmbH about the company’s testing and monitoring systems for offshore array and export cables.

Their technology is designed to identify partial discharge, locate cable faults and verify joints and terminations before a wind farm enters operation.

That matters. Offshore cable failures are costly, difficult to access and potentially highly disruptive. Identifying installation or assembly issues before energisation can help reduce the risk of failures later in the project lifecycle.

HIGHVOLT is also bringing variable frequency testing into the medium-voltage market, applying an approach already established across high and extra-high voltage cable systems.

Watch our interview from Global Offshore Wind to hear more about the technology and High Volt’s approach to supporting reliable offshore wind infrastructure.
