Energy transition meets design award: the innovative energy storage unit, neeoQube from AKASOL GmbH (Darmstadt, Germany) has received the 2015 Red Dot Award, the most important international award for product design. For AKASOL, the quality German manufacturer of lithium-ion energy storage units, this is their second award within a few months. The innovative company also won the 2014 eCar-Tec Award last year.
“The fact that we are now also the winners of the most prestigious international design competition in the world, the Red Dot Award, pleases me immensely. After all, in developing our energy storage solutions we demand the highest standards, not only in terms of safety and energy efficiency, but also with respect to product design,” said Lothar Holder, Managing Director of AKASOL GmbH.
With neeoQube, the energy storage unit for private homes, AKASOL has impressed not only energy-conscious builders, but also the 38-member jury of the Red Dot Award: 2015 Product Design. Across countries and industries, the Red Dot is seen as the award of choice for high design quality. In the anniversary year marking the design award’s 60th year, the international experts discussed and evaluated a total of 4,928 entries from 56 nations. However, only designs with inspirational quality and innovation were rewarded by the jury. Like neeoQube from AKASOL, which can now spot the coveted Red Dot quality seal.
“You have delivered exceptionally high performance and thus have deservedly won the largest design competition in the world,” says Professor Peter Zec, initiator and CEO of the Red Dot Award, thereby explicitly praising the work of graduate designer Dennis Redmonds from Munich, who was instrumental in helping AKASOL with neeoQube’s product design.
