Malvern Panalytical releases Hydro Insight: A deeper level of materials insights

Malvern Panalytical, a leading analytical instrumentation supplier, today launches the Hydro Insight, a game-changing dynamic imaging accessory for its Mastersizer 3000 particle sizing instrument. The Hydro Insight provides an ‘extra pair of eyes’ for researchers, scientists, and quality control managers. Through real-time particle imaging, this tool helps them to see beyond particle size – powering more in-depth materials research and exciting scientific advances.

Sitting alongside the market-leading Mastersizer 3000 laser diffraction system, the Hydro Insight provides live particle images by combining Vision Analytical’s dynamic imaging expertise with Malvern Panalytical’s flow cell technology. Based on these images, it also generates quantitative data on particle shape, alongside particle size data from the Mastersizer 3000. The combination of high-resolution imaging with high-range laser diffraction data provides a more comprehensive overview of materials than laser diffraction alone.

Thanks to these unique features, the Hydro Insight delivers deeper insights into how the combination of particle size and shape affects material behavior. Next to that, the particle images also make it easier to troubleshoot unexpected particle size results. And all these benefits also make it quicker and simpler for scientists to develop new particle sizing methods or switch from sieving to laser diffraction – opening exciting new possibilities for in-depth materials analysis and, subsequently, high-performance products.

Anne Virden, Product Manager Micro-Materials: “I’m very excited with the launch of the Hydro Insight – and all the important scientific advances it will unlock! By combining Malvern Panalytical’s laser diffraction expertise with Vision Analytical’s dynamic imaging knowledge, the Hydro Insight will help enable groundbreaking research and ultimately accelerate scientific progress. As such, the tool shows how the whole is bigger than the sum of its parts. An exciting future awaits!”

On behalf of Visual Analytical, President Peter Bouza emphasizes the direct benefits of the collaboration for the market: “Many companies struggle with optimizing their raw material processes to improve speed-to-market and reduce costly down-time. As a highly respected leader in the scientific field, Malvern Panalytical has always been the predominant solution-driven partner to help industry. Collaborating with Malvern Panalytical will offer complementary information to further assist customers offering world-class valuable information unavailable from any other particle analysis equipment.”
