A company that provides full-service delivery of personnel, equipment and vessels within the business areas of offshore accommodation and subsea services, SweOffshore is an increasingly-visible operator in the sector. We caught up with Commercial Manager, Anton Lymer.
PES: Welcome to the magazine. Before we get on to the main issues of the day, would you like to introduce your company and explain your role within the wind industry?
Anton Lymer: SweOffshore develops and delivers innovative services of high safety and quality within the offshore accommodation and platform/foundation service and maintenance markets.
PES: And how important is the European sector to your business?
AL: The European renewable energy sector is our main market, so it is of the highest importance to us that we maintain our strong position as accommodation provider in this region.
PES: The company is notable for its focus on two business areas – subsea and accommodation – how difficult is it to maintain a single business strategy that supports divergent interests?
AL: It is becoming more and more important to provide a wider range of services for our clients. Today, under the scope of ‘subsea’, we incorporate platform and foundation service, inspection and maintenance. And while service and maintenance and accommodation may at first glance appear to be far apart, we can see clear synergies in the future by providing accommodation, service and warehouse vessels together with platform inspection, service and maintenance services in a ‘one stop shop’ solution.
PES: It must be quite a challenge caring for – and getting the best from – personnel at sea. What measures do you take to manage this?
AL: We always operate vessels that perform well in high seas. This doesn’t only ensure more uptime from an operational perspective, it also ensure the wellbeing of the personnel living on board the vessel. A larger vessel that performs better in worse weather will always be more stable, making it a more comfortable home away from home.
On top of that, we also provide a great entertainment system with the newest movies in multiple languages and subtitles, as well as a fully-equipped fitness centre and great food.
