SOLON SE expands Greek business

Berlin, May 6, 2010. SOLON SE closed a project deal with the Greek company NRG-ORION for the delivery of solar modules with a total capacity of 1.5MWp. NRG-ORION is one of the largest system integrators for solar power plants in Greece. The SOLON modules will be used to construct a ground-mounted PV system at the headquarters of Kronos SA, Europe’s largest producer of canned peaches, which will be Greece’s largest single axis tracking solar power plant so far.

The power plant is already scheduled to be finished and connected to the grid in August.

Including the current contract, SOLON SE has delivered solar modules with a total capacity of 3MWp to Greece since 2008. This corresponds to a market share of about 6% of the total PV output installed in Greece, which SOLON currently estimates to be around 50MWp.
“Thanks to its geographic conditions Greece has a great potential for solar energy. The successful conclusion of the contract confirms our opinion that this country is a market with good future prospects,” says Stefan Säuberlich, CEO of SOLON SE. “We are happy to be able to offer our customers premium-quality solar modules by SOLON and to confirm our leading position in the Greece solar market through this project,” says Theodosios Matopoulos, General Manager of NRG-ORION.

The company NRG-ORION, founded in 1999 and headquartered in Thessaloniki, initially concentrated on energy efficiency in the field of electricity and has been active as an integrator of solar power plants in the solar sector since 2006. The goal is to constantly expand the existing expertise through research and development in order to offer products and services of the highest quality at an attractive price-performance ratio.
