On top of being the first wind farm in Latin America equipped with the innovative iSpin technology Ste Rose wind farm in Guadeloupe is also the first French wind farm to have a long-term deployment of iSpin. At the beginning of September, ROMO Wind finalized the deployment of the iSpin technology on all 8 turbines of the Ste Rose wind farm (971-Guadeloupe). iSpin will be equiped for the whole operational life of the project.
The main objective for Valorem, operator of this wind farm, is to permanently benefit from independent and reliable wind measurements, on each of the 8 turbines in the wind farm.
Simon Brillet, Technical Director at Valorem, states that “using the iSpin technology prevented us from deploying a met mast on that site, while at the same time still getting independent measurement on all turbines, and for a cost that would have only allowed us to equip one turbine with competitor’s technologies.”
Guillaume Steinmetz, ROMO Wind Business Manager in France, adds that “the deployment of the iSpin technology on this wind farm was a great challenge to take up, due to a tight installation calendar with the coming hurricane season. Thanks to an excellent coordination with Valorem and Valemo teams, we nevertheless managed to execute this deployment in due form and on time.”
He then concludes by saying that “We’ve noticed that in recent times more and more wind farm operators now perceive the importance of accessing reliable and independent wind measurements. We are therefore glad to support big names of the wind industry like Valorem in the development of their expertise in operation, particularly in the field of continuous performance analysis.”
Worldwide more than 1.100 wind turbines are now equipped with the iSpin technology. This deployment keeps on speeding up, with wind farm operators now willing to access more transparency about the wind conditions affecting their turbines, thanks to long term installation of iSpin on their farms.
About Valorem/Valemo: Valorem is a producer of renewable energies since 1994, active from development phase to operational phase of their wind, solar and hydro assets installed in France and internationally. As an independent pioneer in the field, its 270 employees are working daily for the production of a reliable and clean energy, at the best possible cost. Its subsidiary Valemo operates all 300 MW owned by Valorem, and a further 400 MW for other customers, and also performs maintenance on wind farms.
About ROMO Wind: ROMO Wind AG is the exclusive provider of the iSpin spinner anemometer. The unique iSpin technology measures wind where it first hits the wind turbine, at the tip of the hub directly in front of the rotor. With the iSpin technology, ROMO Wind enables manufacturer-independent performance monitoring, targeted load reduction and insights into flow inclination, turbulence intensities and actual wind conditions in all sectors. Operators of wind farms can thereby identify the real earning capacity of their turbines. ROMO Wind AG, headquartered in Zug, Switzerland, is represented by regional teams in Denmark, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
