Gordon Clements, General Manager Residential Power & Energy VARTA Storage GmbH, caught up with PES, during his very busy schedule, to bring us up to date with the latest news from this innovative company.
PES: Welcome to PES Solar/PV publication. Thanks for talking with us. Would you like to begin by explaining a little about the background of VARTA storage and the importance of the Solar/PV industry to you?
Gordon Clements: We are located in the Bavarian town of Nördlingen, Germany. We have 130 years of experience in the battery industry and have become a leading manufacturer of energy storage devices for private households and tailor-made, large-scale storage applications. Plus, we provide powerful and reliable energy solutions for the requirements of cordless devices. So we are very experienced in mastering the challenges of lithium-ion batteries efficiently and safely.
Our worldwide presence ensures fast and flexible solutions. The solar and PV industry is really important for us. The global energy storage is one of the vital challenges and growth opportunities of the 21st Century and we see energy storage systems as key to success in this.
PES: Is this a growing market for you?
GC: Yes we are pleased to say the energy storage is a growing market for us. Our success in Europe, as I have already mentioned, shows we have the right products on the market. In future we aim to have a two digit market share number in all of our markets.
PES: We see you have various storage systems in a variety of industries; we would like to know more about these solutions and the role they play.
GC: Energy storage systems are key to the energy revolution. For our customers we offer a wide range of flexible solutions. Our solutions are reliable, safe and future proof. Most of our systems are expandable, so if the need for more kWh is needed you easily have the possibility to upgrade it or cascade it. Flexibility is key for our systems.
